Manitoba Psychological Society’s  Legislative Reception

Thursday May 23, 2024
5:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Manitoba Legislative Building--Golden Boy Room

Thank you Minister Smith for being the host office for this event.

Did you know:

  • Manitoba has the lowest number of psychologists per capita in Canada?
  • Over 20% of Manitoba public psychology positions are vacant and this number is growing?
  • 71% of Manitobans say wait times and costs are significant barriers to accessing a psychologist and 86% of Manitobans support improving access to psychologists through publicly funded system (Nanos survey, 2020)?

We invite you to join us for a short presentation to learn more about the important role psychologists play in the health of Manitobans, the benefits of psychological interventions (from both a health and fiscal perspective), and recommendations to address the current shortage of psychologists in Manitoba.  Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about the various specialty areas of psychology and the experiences and perspectives of psychologists from across Canada.  There will be ample opportunities to engage in informal conversations with members of MPS as well as members of the Council of Professional Associations of Psychologists (CPAP).
